New Jersey Academia
Thursday, May 24th, 2007New Jersey offers higher education by renowned professors to over 82,000 students annually. These institutions include Princeton, Rutgers University, Kean University, Temple and Rowan University. Many other state funded and private colleges and universities are housed in New Jersey and attract scholars from around the world. Scholarships at the state and national level are open to students to help defray the cost of their education.
High Schools, both public and private, send students off to a great future with advanced learning skills. Scores on the ACT and SAT tests are above average for most public and private high school seniors. Christian Brothers Academy in Middletown, The Purnell School in Pottersville, Torah Academy in Teaneck and Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair are examples of the diversity offered in private school educations.
New Jersey has been receiving grants from GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) since 1999. This allows more students in New Jersey inner cities to get educational assistance such as tutoring and summer school, in order to finish high school and go on to college. New Jersey has worked very hard to get its educational standards up and has since become one of the highest ranked in the country.
