NJ Recreational Activities
The temperate climate, combined with the topography in New Jersey, offers a wealth of recreational activities to choose from. Whether you prefer the thrill of a roller coaster at Six Flags or the serenity of a walk in The Pine Barrens, New Jersey has something for everyone.
New Jersey has an extensive park system with 39 State Parks, 11 State Forests and 3 State Recreation Areas. Each park offers different activities, but some include snow skiing, hiking, camping, rafting, kayaking, sledding, swimming, hunting, fishing, ice skating, snowmobiling, horseback riding and boating. There are fifty State Historic sites in New Jersey. They all tell an interesting tale of how New Jersey developed through the years.
Six Flags has been amusing families for years with the roller coasters and Wildlife Safari. Spend a day riding the rides and playing the games in the sun. Spend another day driving through the World’s largest drive thru safari and see lions, tigers and bears (oh my!). Don’t miss the baboon area and they actually jump on your vehicle and ride too !
The eastern side of the state is lined with beautiful beaches. Swimming, boardwalks and sun bathing are just a few activities to do while spending the day on the Atlantic Ocean.
Camden is home to the State Aquarium, which is three levels of sea life fun. Look for Nemo, touch a shark or watch the fish swim by. Special shows and animal feedings are scheduled throughout the day.
